Meet Shannon
Shannon Thomas is the founder and principal of Inherit Leadership, where she helps leaders understand the systems shaping their work, recognize the patterns they have inherited, and lead with greater clarity and intention.
A former Chief Information Officer and longtime higher education executive, Shannon has led through organizational change, complex technology initiatives, shifting workplace expectations, and moments when the systems surrounding leaders made their work harder than it needed to be. Her approach blends executive experience, research, storytelling, and practical frameworks to challenge conventional leadership advice without offering another formula to follow.
Shannon holds an MBA and is an EdD candidate in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her research examines the experiences of women in higher education IT leadership across generations.
